Summary
Rental Inspection Defender is designed as a local-first rental inspection app. Property, inspection, room, note, photo, report, and settings data are stored on your device unless you choose to share, export, print, or email them. We do not sell your personal data.
Information You Enter or Create
The app may store the following information locally on your device:
- Property details, including address, room information, inspection dates, and inspection status.
- Inspection notes, checklist items, condition details, and other text you enter.
- Photos or images you capture or import for inspection evidence.
- Generated PDF reports and exported backup files.
- App preferences, onboarding state, and subscription-related status shown in the app.
Local Storage and Backups
The app does not require an account or cloud login. Your inspection data is stored in the app's local database and files on your device. If you use export, share, print, email, or backup features, you control where those files are sent or saved.
Deleting the app or clearing its app data may permanently delete locally stored inspection data unless you previously exported a copy.
Permissions
The app may request these permissions only when needed for app features:
- Camera: to capture inspection evidence photos.
- Photos or media library: to import existing inspection images or attach images to reports.
- Internet: to support subscriptions, address lookup, map tiles, and links opened from the app.
You can deny or later change permissions in your device settings, but some related features may stop working.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Rental Inspection Defender may offer paid subscription features. Purchase and subscription processing is handled by the Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat. These providers may process purchase identifiers, transaction status, subscription status, device/app information, and related diagnostics needed to verify access and restore purchases.
We do not receive your full payment card details. Payment information is handled by the relevant app store or payment provider.
Address Lookup and Maps
If you use address lookup, geocoding, or map features, an address or search text you enter may be sent to geocoding or map services such as OpenStreetMap/Nominatim or platform geocoding services to return coordinates, suggestions, or map display data. Map tiles may also be loaded from OpenStreetMap.
If you open an address in an external maps app or website, that external service handles the request under its own privacy policy.
Sharing, Email, Printing, and Reports
The app can generate, display, print, export, email, or share inspection reports and backup files at your request. When you choose one of these actions, the selected file or text may be passed to your device's share sheet, email app, print service, file manager, or another app/service you select.
Please review recipients and destination apps before sharing inspection reports, because those files may include property details, notes, and photos.
Analytics and Advertising
The app is not designed to sell personal data or show behaviorally targeted advertising. Based on the current app implementation, there is no third-party advertising SDK and no general-purpose analytics SDK used to track your inspection activity.
Data Deletion
You can delete your information in these ways:
- Delete individual properties, inspections, rooms, notes, photos, or reports inside the app where available.
- Use export before deleting if you want to keep a copy of your data.
- Uninstall the app or clear its app data in your device settings to remove locally stored app data from that device.
Because the app does not require a cloud account, we generally cannot restore data deleted from your device.
Children's Privacy
Rental Inspection Defender is intended for rental inspection and property documentation use. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Third-Party Services
The app may interact with the following third-party services depending on the features you use:
- Apple App Store and Google Play for purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and subscription management.
- RevenueCat for subscription entitlement verification and purchase restoration.
- OpenStreetMap/Nominatim and platform geocoding or map services for address lookup and map display.
- Your selected email, sharing, printing, file storage, or maps apps when you send data outside Rental Inspection Defender.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when app features, legal requirements, or service providers change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
